Assignment 12 - The Final Project

The Final Project Requirements

Review the REQUIREMENTS FILE for the Final Project. Create a Flash Final Project based on the requirements. Include an effective preloader in your final project. The preloader should establish the theme, feel, colors, design, and mood of the piece. It should invite the viewer into the movie. Too much blinking on and off can be a turnoff to most viewers. Create a preloader that is smooth and soothing yet exciting and captivating. You can use a "loading" text graphic with a fake progress bar or animated graphic symbol for this course. Do a search on a Flash resource site for a simple Preloader.

DO NOT CREATE A SELF-RUNNING ANIMATION for your final. Create an interactively designed UI with buttons that enables the user to navigate around the screens. Create a unified SITE, not merely links to demonstration of homework projects. Make this project a professional portfolio piece.

Use the GRADING RUBRIC to determine the level of competency demonstrated for each requirement.

You may attach your final.swf file to the Discussion area and reflect on the process. Post a review of a peer's project. If you submit a peer review, critique as if you were a professional critic. Discuss what works and why. Discuss elements of design, time, structure, continuity, unity, sound, quality of graphics, ease of navigation, consistency of form, repetition, dynamic energy, visual cues to the user, as well as the requirements listed on the checklist.

Reading and Other Tutorials

Read the chapter in your textbook about Optimizing and Publishing your project. Read about HTML and Flash. Reading about the Flash Preloaders.  Here are a few good preloader links:
