Concert Report #2

This concert report works the same as your first report. For this assignment, you are to attend a concert and report back with a description that uses some of the newly attained understandings from this course. Remember to make references to what you have learned in this class.

Types of Acceptable Concerts

1) A sit down concert.
2) Live performers of more traditional instruments (no turntabalists or MIDI sequencer unless in concert with live performers).
3) Style of music is less important than the fact that you are there only to listen (no dancing, imbibing, eating, etc.).
4) Preferably a concert of music not normally in your usual listening milieu.

Contents of Report
1) Enough descriptive material to let me know what it was exactly you heard.
2) Some discussion of some of the musical activities that relate to your knowledge of music theory. For example, how much melody vs. harmony vs. rhythm was in the concert?
3) How composed vs. how improvised was the concert? What kind of listening was required because of this balance?
4) What was surprising, if anything?
5) What was done well?
6) What was done poorly?
7) What was your personal reaction to the music and why? Were you more influenced by the music or the extra-musical subculture of the concert? What did you like about it or not like about it?
