Foothill-De Anza Community College District respects each individual’s right to personal privacy. We will collect and use information through our web site only in the ways disclosed in this statement. This statement applies solely to information collected at the Sofia project web site managed by Foothill-De Anza personnel.

Foothill-De Anza collects information through the Sofia project web site to allow access, share information, and communicate with partners and other interested parties. Individuals may elect to subscribe to our list to receive information and project updates.

Foothill-De Anza and the Sofia project do not market anything to children, and we never ask individuals under 17 to divulge personal information.

We collect data through user registration and subscription forms. Information collected includes first and last name, title, college or institution, phone number, email address, as applicable. The information is collected voluntarily so that interested parties can receive updates on our open courseware effort.

Our web site will utilize forums to enable open communication amongst faculty and learners across the world. Our discussion forums will have optional registration that will employ cookies. A cookie is a small text file that our web server places on a user’s computer hard drive to be a unique identifier. Cookies enable our discussion board software to deliver customized content based on set profile to users. Our cookies have an expiration date and do not collect personally identifiable information.

The information collected by Foothill-De Anza will be used for responding to inquiries about the Sofia project. Users who provide information will receive responses or announcements via email. Registered users will receive information about events, news, and updates.

The information we collect will not be used to create client profiles based on browsing history. We will not supplement information collected at our Web site with data from other sources. We will not share any date with third parties.

We offer links to other web sites. When you click on links to other Web sites, we encourage you to read their privacy policies. Their standards may differ from ours.

Our web site may utilize forums. Please be advised that information posted in forums becomes public knowledge despite the fact that the forums are password-protected.
