Vivie Sinou

Vivie Sinou, Dean of Learning Technology & Innovations at Foothill College, manages the ETUDES Consortium and oversees the development and support of ETUDES, a course management system, based on the Sakai open source platform. Sinou formed the ETUDES Consortium in 2002 and extended the use of the system to over 30 institutions. Sinou is leading the Sofia initiative, serves on the Sakai Board, and is helping shape the vision of open source software in higher education.

Sinou was selected for the League Innovator of the Year Award for Foothill De Anza Community College District (2002) and was the recipient of the 2002 Technology Leadership Award from the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office. She was chosen for the prestigious statewide award for her prominence within the arena of higher educational technological resources management, exemplary organizational management and leadership qualities, advocacy of effective use of technology in supporting institutional goals, and contributions to growth of the profession as a whole.

Marlene Wilkendorf

Marlene Wilkendorf joined the Foothill Global Access team 3 years ago bringing over 10 years of administrative experience to the project.  Marlene earned a Database Systems and Concepts Certificate from University of California, Santa Cruz Extension and a Web Development Certificate from San Jose State University Extension.  She will receive her Associate of Science in Data Management from Foothill College in 2006. Marlene and her husband Greg are proud to announce another exciting project: The arrival of their first baby in February, 2005.

Janet Davis

Janet Davis has a Masters Degree in Instructional Technology from San Jose State University. She also has a professional certificate in online instructional delivery from California State University, Hayward. She has been an educator for 15 years, teaches Flash at De Anza College, has been a faculty trainer at De Anza College, and has also been an instructional designer and graphic artist for Foothill-De Anza Community College District's team of media developers, the Instructional Design Group, Educational Technology Services.
   

Marcia Ganeles

Marcia P. Ganeles (BA, Fine Art – MS, Education) teaches Flash, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop online through Foothill College, and Education in the Graduate School of California State University, Hayward (Online Teaching & Learning Program). She trains Community College faculty to teach online through Foothill Global Access and the California Virtual Campus workshops. Training educators enables Marcia to observe and assist in the development of a variety of courses. She passionately takes online courses to experience diversity in teaching styles and integrate the best practices of her colleagues into her courses.
   

Priti Singh
 

Priti Singh has a Masters in Business Administration and Public Administration from the University of Antwerp (Belgium), apart from E-Business and Internet Technology Career Certificates from De Anza and Foothill College. Previously, she was involved with Etudes, the course management system of Foothill, in designing web pages for online courses. Her business experience involves marketing, banking and website management.

   

Valerie Taylor

Valerie Taylor has been teaching part-time at De Anza since 2000. She currently teaches Computers and Society as an online course. Her business career has included positions in education, technology, consulting, and banking in Canada and the Bay Area. Ms. Taylor has a M.S. in Education specializing in Online Teaching and Learning from CSU Hayward. All course work for this program was online. When she is not working, she enjoys traveling and sailing.

Story Writer

Suzanne Floyd

Suzanne Floyd began writing for publication in 1984 and has worked as writer and editor for a variety of publications ranging from a US Virgin Islands-based daily newspaper to a Manhattan-based trade journal. In 1994, Suzanne earned her MA in English and Comparative Literature with a concentration in Rhetoric and Writing Studies from San Diego State University. She has taught at several community colleges on each coast and put the first English course online at both Santa Monica College in Santa Monica, CA and College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA. She was hired as a full-time online Language Arts instructor at West Los Angeles College in 2001 where she is now Associate Professor.

Programming Support

Kyong Kim, Instructional Web/Multimedia Programmer
 

Kyong Kim, Foothill Instructional Web/Multimedia Programmer, is the principal developer of the peer review/rating script that made this important part of the project an efficient and effective selection process. Kyong interacts with students and faculty daily, providing technical support, assistance in multimedia development, system administration, testing and troubleshooting. He is an asset to the team as we continue to explore ways to streamline processes.

Daryl Nardick

Dr. Nardick is a partner in ConseQ Associates, LLP, working with higher education organizations to understand and manage the unintended consequences of IT change.  She has worked with higher education institutions since the mid 80s, initially as a member of Apple Computer’s higher education group and then as an independent consultant.   As a consultant, her work spans the corporate and nonprofit worlds of higher education and IT.   She is presently a Senior Project Director with the Institute for Higher Education. 

   

Frank Connolly

Dr. Connolly is a partner in ConseQ Associates, LLP, working with higher education organizations to manage the unintended consequences of IT change.  He has over 30 years in higher education as a faculty member and administrator -- 21 years at American University (AU) and 14 years at Montgomery Community College.  He is an Emeritus Professor of Computer Science and Information Systems at AU, and a Senior Project Director with the Institute for Higher Education Policy.
